Car Maintenance: Windshield Wipers
March 6th, 2006
I replace my windshield wipers on my cars twice a year no matter their condition: March 1st (just after the roughest part of winter) and September 1 (just after the hot summer).
The worst scares in my life seemed to always revolve around driving in bad weather with bad wipers. Wipers are cheap (as low as $6 if you replace the rubber portion yourself, but I find the time spent is too much), and they tend to fail in a moment’s notice.
If you haven’t thought about your wipers lately, and you haven’t replaced them in a long time, today is the day to do so. Go and hit a Murray’s Discount auto store of a Pep Boys and pick up a set to use. I like to keep a second set in the trunk “just in case” and I tend to use those as my replacement and just replace the ones in my trunk.
I also look over my jumper cables at the same time (check for frays, make sure they’re not corroded), and I check the date on my car battery, too.
